Suncare
The main function of sunscreen cosmetics is to minimize the harmful effects of sunlight on human skin, while providing a natural tanning ability along with the capacity to maintain skin’s natural moisture level. The size of the protection provided is expressed by a number called sun protection factor (SPF).
The SPF number is actually a multiplier of the time required to cause erythema in any particular skin. If, for example, a sensitive skin begins to turn red after a 5-minute exposure to the sun, the use of an SPF 20 product will extent the protection to 5 x 20 = 100 minutes. In a less sensitive skin that begins to turn red after a 30-minute exposure to the sun, the protection will last 30 x 20 = 600 minutes
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun between 11:00 and 15:00. For additional protection, wear a hat, sunglasses and a shirt. Avoid the exposure of babies and children to direct sunlight. Always apply sufficient quantity of sunscreen. Reapply frequently, especially after sweating, swimming or wiping.
